Qualifications of Directors:
1] One who has homeschooled prior to starting an Academy.
2] One who has at least one child who will take part in the Academy. (We will make exceptions regarding this qualification. Please email us about your exception.)
3] One who is able to work well with children, teenagers and adults.
4] One who is able to commit (with the approval of her husband) approximately 15 hours a week or maybe less to the Academy/class. Approximately 6-7 of these hours will be spent in the classroom. The other hours will be spent planning, answering questions, and grading writing assignments.
5] One who has a love for and understanding of the subjects she will teach, which may be literature, vocabulary, writing, history, geography, SAT prep and literary analysis. Some directors may decide to teach either language arts or history and choose to have someone teach the other subjects.
6] One who is able to organize her time and paperwork from the class while homeschooling her own children.
7] One who has a desire and a commitment to see children receive a superior education.
8] One who understands the educational philosophy behind Jill Dixon’s Eclectic Academy of Learning and is able to explain it.
9] One who understands and supports the fact that some of the curriculum from The Academy is Christian based.
10] One who is comfortable with enforcing and carrying out rules with parents and adults.
11] One who is totally committed to homeschooling.
12] One who is willing to be a Director for at least a 4 year rotation. [Because The Academy teaches history on a 4 year rotation, it is best for the Directors to commit to at least 4 years if all goes well.]
13] One who has at least a basic knowledge and understanding of high school requirements for homeschoolers so that she can answer questions of parents. Each Director will receive an e-book of The Complete Career, College and High School Guide for Homeschoolers and should become familiar with the content of this guide in order to assist parents.
Qualifications of Directors are guidelines that are highly recommended by us and help us in determining Directorships for the Academy classes.
